Job Description

Aquent’s client, a large multi-national financial services company seeks a Proofreader to join its team to drive the QA process for various types of legal or regulatory documents (including books, webpages, emails, and template letters).

This starts out as a 9-month assignment (W2, hourly, full-time hours with comprehensive benefits and PAID SICK TIME offered). Located in Minneapolis, MN or remote (EST or CST), with potential to extend beyond the initial 9 months.

What you’ll do:

  • This position is responsible for editing and proofreading various Benefits Compliance communications, specifically for the 2021 Regulatory Benefits Communications project. This includes verifying edits and revisions from business partners, proofreading documents after they come back from our designers, and suggesting new and/or improved language in these documents.
  • You will project goals, objectives, and plans to best represent the company’s benefits philosophy. Identifies communications opportunities and the design/medium/channel for execution.
  • You will edit and annotate Word documents and PDFs.
  • You will proofread large volumes of materials within time constraints.

Qualifications required:

  • 4+ years professional proofreading experience and/or a Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism.
  • Experience primarily as a proofreader.
  • Experience proofing various types of regulatory or legal documents (for example, books, webpages, emails, template letters).
  • Detail-oriented in order to proofread large volumes of materials within time constraints.
  • Prefer familiarity with AP Stylebook with the ability to see that serial commas are a good thing.

Technical skills required:

  • Advanced PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, in order to edit and annotate Word documents and PDFs.
